STAMFORD, CT - First County Bank Sunday Concert Series at Bartlett Arboretum opens its season on Sunday, June 26, with classical performances by graduate students from the Yale School of Music. More than 14 concerts, two concerts each Sunday, are planned for this seven-week season at the arboretum in Stamford.

Sunday morning concerts that start at 10 a.m. and run one hour are devoted to classical music and feature different Yale graduate students each week. Sunday evening concerts that start at 5 p.m. and run to 7 p.m. will feature a host of different pop musical talent from the region. There is no charge to Bartlett Arboretum members for the morning concerts. However, members do have to pay $5 per person for the evening concerts. Non-members have to pay $6 per person for the morning concerts and $10 per person for the evening program.

“We are very excited about participating in this relaxed summer concert series at the Bartlett Arboretum,” said Karen Kelly, First County Bank’s first vice president, director of marketing. “It’s a perfect opportunity for the public to relax and enjoy Sunday mornings and evenings with live entertainment while sitting in the beautiful gardens of the arboretum.

“First County Bank is known for taking care of its customers when it comes to their financial needs,” Kelly said, adding, “And through this sponsorship, we’re offering our customers and the general public a leisurely respite from their busy lives.” Concert goers should bring a folding chair, a beverage or two and some snacks to enjoy during the performances. There is no cooking allowed on arboretum property.

In 1913, Francis A. Bartlett, a well-known dendrologist and founder of F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Co., acquired 30 acres of North Stamford woodlands to use as his residence, training school and research laboratory for his tree-care company. Over the years, Bartlett assembled a large number of woody plant specimens on the property from all over the world.
